Hey, hello, my name is Amir.
I have more than 20 years of experience working in the English
language teaching and assessment industry.
And on this channel, I will be sharing with you
educational content that will help you in your English language learning journey.
There are many other YouTube channels that do the same,
but mine is very special and unique.
What makes this channel different is that you can watch my YouTube videos
on my website ESLSherpa.com.
And when you do that, you can take advantage of a user interface like this one.
As you can see,
you have access to the script of the video right here on the right side of the screen.
And you can also see the current subtitle right here below the video.
Now, if you're familiar with YouTube, which many of you are,
you know that YouTube also provides subtitles and scripts of videos.
But this is not the same. This is much better.
Because this interface is specifically tailored for English language learners.
Let me show you what I mean by that
When you don't know the meaning of a word, like for example, the word tailored,
[ rewind to when tailored was mentioned]
because this interface is specifically tailored for English language learners.
You can stop the video and click on the word and see its English definition.
But it's not only the English definition.
You can see two examples for the word and even the translation of the word
in your preferred language. And if by any chance you want to hear how the word is pronounced,
You can click here on the speaker icon and just hear the pronunciation.
Simple as that.
If a subtitle contains an expression, like
Simple as that.
you will see a star next to the subtitle. You can just move your mouse cursor
over the star and see the expression, its meaning, and translation. And by the way,
you have the option to see what the difficulty level of each word is.
We use the Common European Framework for languages( CEFR) for that.
For example, if you want to see what the most basic words are,
you can just check A2 and A1,
and all the words at that level will be highlighted.
Or you can also check B1 and B2 level words
to find out about words that are a little bit more difficult.
This can help you decide which words to learn first,
or pay more attention to.
And if you like what you're seeing here,
and are wondering, can I use these features on my phone?
Of course you can.
And the mobile layout is just as useful.
You can tap on words to check their meaning,
and all the other good stuff I showed you, and much more.
When you watch my videos on ESLSherpa.com,
you don't need to spend a lot of time
looking up the meaning of words and expressions anymore.
And because of that,
it will be easier for you to learn those words and expressions.
It will also make it easier for you to focus
on understanding what I say in my videos,
and hopefully enjoy them even more.
You can not find this anywhere else.
There are some apps out there
that offer word translations and definitions in the browser,
but they don't come close to what you will experience here.
The definitions and translations provided here are much more accurate and reliable.
And more importantly,
and this is something that may not be immediately noticeable,
but you will realize over time.
It's that every single design choice
in this web app is made with one goal in mind.
To boost your English learning.
The definitions provided here,
the examples,
even the way the meaning of a word is given,
everything is crafted to give you the most effective
and enjoyable learning experience possible.
When you click on a word,
you don't immediately see the translation.
First, you read the English definition,
then you read examples,
to get a better idea of what the word means,
and how it's used.
Finally, if needed,
you can see the translation to check your understanding.
This is all intentional and designed to maximize learning.
Now that you have an idea of ESLSherpa's unique features,
let's talk about the videos themselves.
What will the videos be about?
I will be creating three types of videos.
The first type would be informative videos.
These videos will cover a variety of topics
that I think you will find interesting.
You can watch these videos on ESLSherpa
to improve your listening skills and vocabulary
across different subjects.
Additionally, these ideas covered in these videos
can help you enhance your speaking skills
and give you some ideas
on what to talk about.
The goal of these videos is to inform and improve your English,
so you are better prepared for English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, PTE, IELTS,
or any other academic English test.
I will also make videos about learning English.
In these videos, I will discuss different learning methods you can
and different aspects of learning English.
The goal is to help you understand and become more knowledgeable
on the topic of language learning,
so that you can use that knowledge
and take the right steps in your English learning journey.
And last but not least,
a few of my videos will be about the best way,
or let's say, my recommended way of using English(ESL) Sherpa.
These videos will focus on
the best way to study my videos and articles
so that you can maximize your English learning.
In the weeks to come,
I will try to stick to a schedule
and make videos every week.
If you have any suggestions on topics I need to cover
or improvements I can make to ESLSherpa,
let me know in the comments below.
There is one last thing I want to share with you,
and this is very important.
Umm...
Looking at the quality of this video,
it may not look like it,
but I'm new to YouTube,
and all this, the website, everything,
is a one-man operation.
The reason this video and ESLSherpa look polished
is because I did a lot of research and work
before starting this channel.
Umm...
Generally, the advice for people who start YouTube
is not to overthink it.
They should just start creating,
and sharing content.
And over time,
they will become better and find their way.
I don't know if this is unfortunate or fortunate,
but I didn't do that.
I did the exact opposite.
And the reason I didn't feel comfortable
to just publish any video
was because of my years of experience
with students who wanted to study abroad or immigrate.
I know how valuable and limited the time
of someone who is preparing for an English exam like TOEFL or IELTS is.
I didn't want to waste anyone's time
by sharing poorly made videos
when I knew I could do better
with the right preparation.
Umm...
If you have done your research,
you know that there are many videos on YouTube
that offer great educational value.
But there are also quite a lot of videos that don't .
Some videos are just poorly made,
and some even misinform you or draw you in with catchy titles
without providing any real value.
I just didn't want my videos
to fall into that second category.
This is my mindset
and my philosophy for this channel.
To create carefully planned,
well-researched English language learning videos.
And I would like you to join me on this journey.
Your support would mean the world to me.
And I will certainly repay that support
by making the best educational content I can.
Give this channel a follow,
leave a comment if you have any suggestions,
and tell your friends.
That's all.
Thank you for watching.
I will see you in the next video.
And until then,
keep studying,
keep improving,
and stay motivated.
Bye.
